I'd Rather Join Arsenal Than Man United...Schneiderlin

Southampton midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told his friends he would rather join Arsenal than Manchester United this summer, according to the Daily Star.

The Frenchman is reportedly one of Louis van Gaal’s main targets this summer and United have already had a £20 million offer for the player turned down by the Saints, as per the aforementioned source.

Furthermore, Goal  reported last week that he was set to sign a contract worth £100,000-a-week with Man United.

However, the 25-year-old is keen to stay in the South of the country, having spent the last seven years at Southampton and would therefore favour a move to London to join Arsene Wenger’s side who he also feels suit his style of play better, the newspaper claims.

Arsenal have been long-term admirers of the French international, however the emergence of Francis Coquelin in their midfield last season has made Wenger think twice about spending big on another defensive midfielder this summer.

Unlike United, Arsenal have yet to make a formal offer for Schneiderlin, meaning van Gaal’s men remain the favourites to sign him at this stage, as per the report.

Schneiderlin is expected to leave St Mary’s this summer after staying amid speculation last year and will undoubtedly add quality to whichever side he ends up with, having established himself as one of the best midfielders in the league over the last three years.

Last season,  Schneiderlin made the third highest tackles of any Premier League midfielder and also registered four goals, including a brace against West Ham.
