Barcelona Signs Lawal, Aminu Linked With Pelicans: NBA

D’Tigers forward, Al-Farouq Aminu, is reportedly on his way out of Dallas Mavericks and could join New Orleans Pelicans as a free agent.

The 24-year-old will spend the off-season visiting potential destinations, including the New York Knicks, Boston Celtics, Portland Trail Blazers, New Orleans Pelicans and Toronto Raptors. He has also not ruled out a return to Dallas.

With reports that Quincy Pondexter could be unavailable for the Pelicans’ small forward position at the beginning of next season, Aminu is among the favourites to fill the vacuum as the team seek new additions.

The 6-foot-9 forward is regarded as a tenacious wing defender. He averaged 11.2 points and 7.2 rebounds in the Mavericks’ five-game series loss to the Houston Rockets, shooting 54.8 per cent from the floor and 63.6 per cent from three.

Meanwhile, Nigerian-born Olaseni Lawal has completed his move to Barcelona basketball team ahead of the 2015/16 Spain-Liga Endesa season.

According to Court Side, Lawal was an integral part of the success of Italian Serie A side Banco di Sardegna Sassari in the 2014/15 season.

He played 10 games for them in the Euroleague where he averaged 9.0 ppg and 7.3 rpg.

In six Euro Cup games, Olaseni was a board shy of averaging a double-double with 10.5 ppg and 9.3 rpg.

He played 47 games in the Italian league and there he posted averages of 11.3 ppg and 9.5 rpg.

Lawal helped his team secure a Grand Slam in 2015, winning the Italian Cup, the Italian Super Cup, and the Italian Serie A Championship.
